Views

Views are different ways to look at the same cards. They do not create separate copies of work. A card shown in Kanban, List, Calendar, or Work Done is still the same card, with the same labels, assignees, custom fields, checklist items, comments, and activity.

Kanera supports four main work views:

ViewBest for
KanbanMoving work through the workspace lists.
ListScanning, grouping, sorting, exporting, and summarizing cards.
CalendarReviewing cards by due date.
Work DoneReviewing what actually changed on a specific day.

You can switch views from the view toggle at the top of a board. Assigned Work also supports these views so you can review work across boards in the workspace.

Shared view controls

Most views use the same board toolbar.

You can:

  • Search cards by text.
  • Filter by labels.
  • Filter by members.
  • Filter by supported custom field values.
  • Show only overdue cards in active work views.
  • Open completed cards from active work views.
  • Show archived cards when needed.

Filters apply to the current view. For example, Calendar only shows matching cards that have due dates, and Work Done only shows matching historical events.

Kanera remembers view preferences in your browser, including the selected view mode and List view setup.

Kanban view

Kanban is the default board view. It shows the workspace lists as columns and the board's cards inside those columns.

Use Kanban when you want to:

  • Move cards through the workflow.
  • See work by list or stage.
  • Add cards directly to a list.
  • Drag cards between lists.
  • Scan card fronts with labels, assignees, due dates, checklist progress, attachments, comments, and other visible fields.

Because lists are shared across the workspace, Kanban gives each board the same workflow shape. This is useful when several boards follow the same process, such as separate client boards inside one Client Delivery workspace.

List view

List view turns cards into a structured table. It is designed for heavier scanning, grouping, sorting, summarizing, and exporting than Kanban.

Use List view when you need to answer questions such as:

  • What is assigned to each person?
  • Which cards are overdue or due soon?
  • How much estimated work is in each list?
  • Which cards are missing a field value?
  • What should be exported for reporting?
  • What is happening across several boards in Assigned Work?

Group cards

The Group control changes how rows are organized.

Built-in grouping options include:

Group byWhat it shows
ListOne group for each workspace list.
AssigneeOne group for each assigned member, plus Unassigned when needed.
LabelOne group for each label, plus No label when needed.
Due dateOverdue, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later, and No due date.
CompletionOpen and Completed.
No groupingOne All cards group.

You can also group by custom fields. Kanera supports grouping by text, number, checkbox, select, user, and date fields. URL fields are not useful as group headings, so Kanera falls back to an ungrouped view for them.

Cards with multiple assignees, labels, select values, or user field values can appear in more than one group. That is intentional: the group answers "where does this card match?" rather than forcing one card into only one bucket.

Sort cards

The Sort control changes card order inside each group.

Sort options include:

SortUse
Manual (position)Keep the natural board order.
Title A-Z or Z-AAlphabetize cards.
Due date soonest or latestPrioritize by due date. Cards without due dates stay at the bottom.
Created newest or oldestReview when cards entered the board.
Updated newest or oldestReview recent activity.

Card drag to reorder works when List view is grouped by List and sorted by Manual (position). If you group or sort another way, Kanera keeps the table stable and shows a hint explaining why drag reorder is disabled.

Use aggregates

The Aggregates menu summarizes numeric custom fields by group.

For each number field, you can show:

  • Sum: total value for the group.
  • Avg: average value for the group.

This is one of the places where Kanera's workspace-wide custom fields become especially useful. If every board in a workspace uses the same Effort, Budget, Hours, or Score field, List view can summarize those values consistently by list, assignee, label, due date, completion state, or another custom field.

Show, hide, reorder, and resize columns

The Columns menu controls which fields appear in the table.

Built-in columns include:

  • Status.
  • Board, when viewing cards across boards.
  • Assignees.
  • Due date.
  • Labels.
  • Checklist progress.
  • Updated.
  • Created.
  • Description.

Custom fields also appear as columns. Fields shown on card fronts are visible by default; other fields can be enabled from the Columns menu.

You can drag column headers to reorder columns and resize columns from the header edge. Kanera remembers your column visibility, order, and widths for that view.

Add and edit from List view

When List view is grouped by list, each list group can show an add-card control. In a normal board, the card is created in that board. In Assigned Work, the add-card flow can let you choose the target board because the view can span multiple boards.

Rows support the same card actions as other views:

  • Open card details.
  • Mark complete or incomplete.
  • Use row actions.
  • Select multiple cards for bulk actions.
  • Drag cards when grouping and sorting allow it.

Export from List view

List view can export the current table to JSON or Excel. Use this when you need a report, a spreadsheet handoff, or a structured snapshot of the current view.

Calendar view

Calendar view shows cards by due date.

Use Calendar view when you need to:

  • Review upcoming due dates.
  • See which days are crowded.
  • Move between month and week ranges.
  • Jump back to today.
  • Open cards from the calendar.
  • Use due-time slots when a card has one.

Calendar only shows cards with a due date. Cards without due dates remain available in Kanban and List view.

Cards can show labels, checklist progress, attachments, description indicators, assignees, and board icons when the view is showing cards across boards.

Work Done view

Work Done is a historical timeline for a selected day. It answers a different question from Kanban or List view: not "what is open right now?", but "what changed?"

Use Work Done when you want to:

  • Review progress from today or yesterday.
  • See what changed during a standup, handoff, or client update.
  • Check what a person or team completed in Assigned Work.
  • Follow cards that moved through lists during the day.
  • Find checklist items that were checked off.

What appears in Work Done

Work Done shows a flat timeline of events sorted by time.

Event types include:

EventMeaning
CreatedA card was created.
MovedA card moved through one or more lists.
CompletedA card was marked complete.
Checked offA checklist item was completed.

Each row shows the event time, the action, the card or checklist item, board context when relevant, list movement context for moved cards, and the actor.

Moved cards can be coalesced into a compact path for the day. For example, if a card moved from Intake to Triage to Active to Done, Work Done can show the path as one movement row instead of making the timeline noisy.

Pick a day

Work Done loads one day at a time.

You can:

  • Move to the previous day.
  • Move to the next day.
  • Jump to Today.
  • Pick a date from the date picker.

The view looks back up to 60 days. Day boundaries use the viewer's local timezone, so "today" matches the day as the viewer experiences it.

Filter Work Done

Work Done uses the shared search and filter controls, but it applies them to historical events.

You can filter by:

  • Search text.
  • Labels on the event's card.
  • Members, matched against the actor who did the work.
  • Supported custom field values on the event's card.
  • Board, when using Assigned Work across multiple boards.

Due-date and archive filters are not shown in Work Done because the view is about historical activity, not the current active-card list.

Work Done on a board

On a board, Work Done shows events for that board only.

Use it to review what happened inside one client board, product board, support queue, or workflow surface.

Work Done in Assigned Work

Assigned Work can show Work Done across boards in the workspace.

In Assigned Work, Work Done can be scoped to:

  • Me: work done by or relevant to your assigned work view.
  • A selected workspace member.
  • All: team-level work done across assigned work.
  • A specific board filter when you want to narrow the cross-board timeline.

Rows include board badges so cross-board history stays clear. This is one of the main benefits of Kanera's workspace model: the same lists, labels, fields, and board metadata make cross-board history readable.

You can switch views without losing the underlying work. Start with Kanban for daily movement, use List for analysis and reporting, use Calendar for due-date planning, and use Work Done for progress review.
