Who Kanera is for

Teams managing moving work.Without platform sprawl.

Kanera gives teams powerful boards, connected project views, reporting, notes, automation, integrations, and a polished modern workflow.

Team size

Small enough to stay clear.
Structured enough to grow.

These are practical fit ranges, not hard product limits. Workload shape, file volume, realtime activity, and integrations matter as much as headcount.

1 to 5

Small teams and founders

Run a few independent boards, keep personal and team notes nearby, and use the hosted Basic plan when its limits fit.

6 to 25

Growing delivery teams

Standardise related projects in a workspace, reuse fields and checklists, and review assigned work across boards.

26 to 100

Multi-project organisations

Give projects separate boards while operations leads keep one view of ownership, delivery history, and structured exports.

100+

Organisations rolling out across teams

Standardise work across departments, then validate file volume, realtime activity, and integration load against the organisation's rollout plan.

The people who usually
feel the difference first.

Project and operations leads

One workflow across recurring projects

Reuse lists, labels, fields, checklist templates, and automations across workspace boards, then report across the same structure.

Agency directors and client leads

Separate client boards, shared delivery standards

Keep each engagement clear, invite board guests where appropriate, and review assigned and completed work across accounts.

Product, design, and engineering leads

A shared system beyond issue tracking

Plan launches, requests, research, delivery, and operational work with a model non-technical teammates can use comfortably.

Founders and service-team managers

Enough structure without a platform programme

Combine boards, calendar, notes, automation, reporting, API, webhooks, and MCP without administering a broad all-in-one suite.

Know what your rollout
needs from day one.

Clear product decisions start with exact requirements. These are the capabilities to confirm before rollout.

You require native Gantt, workload, or time tracking.

Kanera centres boards, list reporting, calendar planning, Assigned Work, and Work Done. It does not currently include Gantt, workload planning, time tracking, forms, or widget dashboards.

Software issues, cycles, and releases define the work.

Kanera centres board-led project operations rather than native issue triage, sprint capacity, release workflows, roadmaps, and dependency planning.

Your company wiki is the primary requirement.

Kanera includes powerful nested notes for project context, but it is not a general publishing system, free-form database builder, or company wiki.

Nobody can own self-hosting operations.

Self-hosting means updates, monitoring, backups, restore tests, mail, storage, and incident response. Use Kanera Pro if the team wants Kanera to operate it.

You need a permissive open-source licence.

Kanera uses Elastic License 2.0. It can be inspected, modified, and self-hosted for your own use, but it cannot be offered to third parties as a hosted or managed service.

Competitor positioning checked July 16, 2026. Review the dated official sources in the ClickUp, monday.com, Linear, Jira, and Notion comparisons.

Start hosted. Keep control.

Kanera Pro is the fastest path for teams. Source availability keeps transparency and self-hosting available when policy or infrastructure requirements call for it.
