Views & Planning

Board view Included. Custom work views include drag-and-drop Kanban boards, available across the current plan range.

Included. Kanban boards with drag-and-drop cards, collapsible lists, per-list sorting, list icons and colours, and card covers.

Table view Included. Table is a primary editable view with hierarchy, system and custom fields, filters, grouping, sorting, and mass actions.

Included. An editable table on boards and across Global Work, with filtering, grouping, custom columns, Sum and Avg calculations, second-dimension breakdowns, saved setup, and Excel or JSON export.

Calendar view Partial or plan-gated. Calendar view and dashboard calendar widgets start on Team; broader space calendar tools and field configuration depend on plan.

Included. A calendar for dated cards with month and week ranges, Today navigation, filtering, due-time slots, and card actions in place, on boards and across Global Work.

Overview, health, and cross-project visibility Included. My to-do, Space Overview, dashboards, reports, workload charts, Resources view, and higher-plan analytics provide several personal, team, and portfolio perspectives.

Included. Home covers daily focus. Every board adds automatic overdue, unassigned, inactive, due-soon, and per-list signals with card drill-downs. Global Work adds My Cards, Team Cards, Portfolio, and Work Done across accessible boards.

Personal and team priority queues Partial or plan-gated. My to-do gathers assigned and manually pinned work across the account, supports priority sorting, and allows manual drag ordering in that sort. Dashboards and workload charts help managers coordinate teams, but Wrike does not document one manager-curated ranked queue for each person.

Included. Up next keeps one ranked order across boards. Open your drawer anywhere, add, reorder, complete, or remove assigned cards in My Cards, filter to queued work, and manage permitted teammate queues from a focused dock or Team Cards grid and table views.

Cards & Work

Work item detail Included. Tasks and custom item types support subtasks, owners, start and due dates, importance, descriptions, files, comments, approvals, dependencies, effort, time entries, and fields, depending on plan.

Included. Cards hold markdown descriptions with change diffs, due dates and time slots, assignees, labels, custom fields, attachments, covers, comments, checklists, watchers, and attributed activity.

Custom fields Partial or plan-gated. Unlimited account- and space-level custom fields can apply to tasks, projects, and folders. Custom fields start on Team, with governance controls varying by role and plan.

Included. Text, number, checkbox, date, URL, select, and user fields, with multi-value select and user fields, owned by one board or shared across a workspace.

Checklists Partial or plan-gated. Wrike uses independently assigned and scheduled subtasks to break down work. It does not use Kanera-style reusable checklist templates with assigned and dated items as a separate card structure.

Included. Reusable checklist templates with item assignees, due dates, descriptions, and one level of sub-checklists. Assigned items surface in Home, My Cards, and focused Team Cards.

Bulk editing Partial or plan-gated. Table mass editing changes status, assignees, dates, location, item type, hierarchy, and up to 1,000 items at once, but the options vary by plan and the current Team plan does not include mass actions.

Included. Selected cards can change dates, labels, assignees, custom fields, completion, location, copies, or archive state together.

Structure & Workflow

Independent projects Included. Projects can have their own views, dates, owners, statuses, access, fields, and workflow context inside a folder and space hierarchy.

Included. Standalone boards keep their own lists, labels, fields, templates, automations, permissions, and settings.

Shared structure Included. Account- and space-level fields, workflows, custom item types, blueprints, dashboards, calendars, and administration connect work across projects.

Included. Workspace boards can reuse lists, labels, fields, checklist templates, automations, and reporting.

Automation Partial or plan-gated. Rules use triggers, conditions, and up to 10 actions. Team, Business, Pinnacle, and Apex include increasing monthly action allowances; Wrike Integrate adds broader no-code integration automation.

Included. Six card triggers drive ordered actions across labels, assignees, checklist templates, due dates, custom field writes, moves, and completion, at board or workspace level.

Reporting Included. Dashboards, Chart view, real-time reports, workload and resource views, time reports, and higher-plan advanced analytics and BI provide broader reporting than Kanera.

Included. Table calculations and breakdowns, Portfolio rollups and drill-downs, Work Done history, saved Global Work views, and Excel or JSON export cover operational reporting.

One-way board syncing Partial or plan-gated. Cross-tagging keeps one task visible in multiple folders or projects, so edits affect the same item everywhere. It is shared placement, not a one-way destination-owned working copy. Wrike Sync adds one- or two-way connections to external systems as an add-on below Apex.

Included. Selected source lists can feed linked copies on another board, keeping shared card content and mapped workflow context current one way.

Collaboration & Access

Collaboration Included. Task discussions, @mentions, files, activity streams, approvals, file proofing, and guest review workflows provide mature collaboration, especially for creative review.

Included. Comments with mentions, quote replies, and thumbs-up acknowledgement, plus attachments, realtime updates, presence, and an attributed activity history beside the work.

External access Partial or plan-gated. Free viewers can inspect shared work, while contributors use reduced-price seats and external users use full paid seats. Business and above also allow accountless guest reviewers to comment on and approve selected files without seeing the underlying workspace.

Partial or plan-gated. Pro keeps guests board-scoped: the first board is free, while a second or later board uses one purchased seat in total. Hosted Free has no guests, and self-hosted has no seat gate.

Notes and context Partial or plan-gated. Descriptions, comments, folders, project context, files, and blueprints hold operational knowledge. Wrike does not present a native nested personal and shared notes tree or a full wiki as a core project surface.

Included. Scratchpad keeps autosaved work in progress private to one person. Personal and shared Notes add nested trees, attachments, search, and card backlinks for durable context.

Notifications Included. Inbox, email, desktop, browser, and mobile notifications cover mentions, assignments, sharing, dates, approvals, and watched work, with user-level notification preferences.

Included. An in-app drawer plus per-type delivery to email, browser push, ntfy, Gotify, or your own signed webhook, with per-workspace pause and scoping rules, card and board watching, mentions, assignments, and due dates. The drawer, email, push, and rules are on every plan; ntfy, Gotify, and personal webhooks need Pro or self-hosted.

Data & Migration

API and webhooks Included. A mature OAuth 2.0 REST API, scoped access, secure event-filtered webhooks, integrations, Wrike Integrate, and Wrike Sync support extensibility. Packaging varies, and the largest no-code integration and sync bundle is included in Apex.

Included. Scoped API keys, a REST API, event-selective webhooks, and built-in Slack, Discord, Telegram, and Zulip chat destinations, all with delivery history, retries, pausing, and secret rotation. Included in Pro and self-hosted; hosted Free has none of them.

AI integration Included. Wrike includes AI content tools, summaries, prioritisation, automation assistance, Copilot, agents, and an MCP server, with AI Essentials and increasing AI Elite allowances packaged by plan.

Partial or plan-gated. A native MCP server with OAuth gives compatible AI clients scoped access to live Kanera context and documentation search; AI is not built into the app.

Deployment Not available. Wrike is a hosted service and does not offer a self-hosted edition.

Included. Hosted plans, or a source-available Docker Compose deployment under Elastic License 2.0 with full feature parity and no Kanera per-seat self-hosting fee.

Import and export Partial or plan-gated. Wrike imports Excel and Microsoft Project data and exports tables, reports, backups, and higher-plan BI datasets. Kanera has no native Wrike importer, so a move requires export or API mapping.

Partial or plan-gated. Reviewable Trello JSON, CSV, and Kanera archive import; Excel and JSON export; plus APIs for custom migrations.

Where each tool draws the line

Timeline, Gantt, and dependencies Included. Interactive Gantt charts and task dependencies start on Team. Milestones, snapshots, critical path, lead and lag time, and higher-plan controls support deeper schedule planning.

Not available. Not included. Kanera plans with due dates, Calendar, and Table. There are no Gantt bars, baselines, or dependency links between cards.

Time tracking and workload Partial or plan-gated. Business and above add time tracking, timesheets, workload charts, effort, and resource views; Pinnacle and Apex add job roles, bookings, budgeting, utilisation, and advanced capacity planning.

Not available. No timer and no capacity planning. Numeric custom fields hold estimates or hours, and Table can sum or average them by group.

Request forms Partial or plan-gated. Business and above include account- and space-level request forms for internal or public submission, response mapping, conditional routing, task or project creation, assignment, and approvals.

Not available. No form builder. Intake arrives through cards, one-way board syncing, or the REST API.

Sign-in and provisioning Partial or plan-gated. Google authentication is broadly available. Pinnacle and Apex add SAML SSO, password policies, two-step verification controls, audit reporting, and SCIM provisioning through supported identity integrations.

Partial or plan-gated. Email and password sign-in with organisation, workspace, and board roles. No SAML, OIDC, or SCIM for user accounts yet; AI clients authenticate to MCP with OAuth.

Apps and offline use Included. Native Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android apps complement the web application.

Partial or plan-gated. Installable PWA on desktop, iOS, and Android with offline board browsing, push notifications, and share-to-card. No native app-store builds.

Interface languages Included. Wrike lists German, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian interfaces.

Not available. English only today.

## Where Kanera takes a different path.

### Review progress without building dashboards

Work Done shows a 60-day daily history of created, moved, and completed cards plus finished checklist items.

### See work at every level

Use Home for today, per-board health for local risk, My Cards and Team Cards for execution, and Portfolio for cross-board drill-downs.

### Move from signal to action quickly

Open one keyboard palette to create a card, navigate, change theme, or search cards, notes, comments, and attachment names.

### Keep context at the right level

Use Scratchpad for private work in progress, then move durable material into personal or team Notes.

### Choose independent or shared boards

Keep boards fully independent, or reuse lists, labels, fields, checklist templates, and automations across a workspace.

### Mirror client work one way

Map source lists into another board so an internal team gets working copies, with local assignees and dates and no custom API bridge.

### Connect the stack and keep control

Use scoped API keys, managed webhooks, and MCP, and export reports to Excel or JSON. Self-host the same product when deployment control matters.

## Bring a real project into the evaluation.

Start with CSV when tasks, workflows, fields, and users fit a tabular export. Folders, dependencies, time entries, history, and attachments need a planned move.

## Frequently asked questions

Is Kanera a direct replacement for Wrike? For teams mainly using Wrike for boards, tables, assignments, custom fields, comments, automation, reporting, and cross-project visibility, Kanera can be a simpler replacement.

It is not feature-equivalent for teams that rely on Gantt dependencies, request forms, time tracking, workload and capacity planning, proofing and approvals, advanced BI, SAML or SCIM, or Wrike's larger integration ecosystem.

What does Wrike do that Kanera does not? Wrike includes interactive Gantt charts and dependencies, native time tracking and timesheets, workload and resource planning, public request forms, proofing and approvals, configurable dashboards, advanced reporting and BI on higher plans, built-in AI, native desktop and mobile apps, eight interface languages, and enterprise identity controls.

Kanera has no Gantt, dependencies, timer, capacity planner, form builder, proofing workflow, widget dashboard builder, SAML, or SCIM today.

Where does Kanera differ from Wrike? Kanera is a smaller board-led system with optional shared workspace structure, a manager-curated ranked queue for each teammate, one-way working copies between boards, nested personal and shared Notes, granular notification delivery, and full-featured self-hosting with no Kanera per-seat fee.

Wrike is broader and more configurable, which is an advantage when those controls are needed and more system to buy, configure, and administer when they are not.

How does Wrike pricing compare with Kanera? For new purchases, Wrike lists Free, Team at $10 per user per month, Business at $25 per user per month, and quote-based Pinnacle and Apex plans. Displayed paid prices are billed annually, Business and above are annual-only, and some capabilities are separate add-ons below Apex.

Kanera Pro is $5 per user per month or $49 per user per year. Kanera also has a Free plan and a self-hosted edition with no Kanera licence or per-seat fee.

Do Wrike and Kanera both support MCP? Yes. Wrike lists an MCP server and built-in AI features across its current plans. Kanera provides MCP for external compatible assistants on Pro and self-hosted, plus a CLI, TypeScript SDK, scoped API keys, and read-only credentials.

Kanera does not include an in-app AI assistant or send project data to a model on its own.

Can Kanera import Wrike projects? Start with CSV when the task data can be represented as rows, then map workflows, fields, people, dates, comments, and checklists in Kanera.

Spaces, folders, time entries, dependencies, history, and attachments need a planned migration when they are not represented in that file.
